Why would I do this?

You may want to use your rainwater tank to help relieve the drainage network. But what happens when the tank is full, in the winter for example? The water will flow out just as quickly as it flows in.

REWATEC retention tanks make it possible to implement professional rain water utilization while at the same time storing excess rainwater (retention) allowing a gradual discharge and fulfilling the requirements of many local authorities that rainwater be gradually discharged into the mains drainage network (SUR1 Code for Sustainable Homes).

The size of the retention and usage volumes depend on individual needs.
That's why we configure the suitable tank based on requirements (usage and retention volumes as well as discharge rate in litres per second). We'd be pleased to give you professional advice to help you draft a tailor-made solution.

A rainwater tank fitted with an attenuation facility adds a buffer zone (to your specification) this zone will fill up and slowly release at a preset rate. Leaving the buffer zone clear for the next heavy downpour.

Use Example

Groundwater building up in heavy rain

A normal rainwater tank could improve this situation because sometimes when it rains there would be enough space in the tank to store the water from the roof. However in the winter, and especially with systems only for gardening, the tank would be full.

A typical 100m2 roof will produce 900-1000 litres of water in a 10mm downpour.

If you add 1000L attenuation facility, there will always be space in the tank when there is a downpour. The water will very slowly release afterwards leaving the area free again when there is another downpour. The bottom section of the tank will remain as pure storage for your normal use.
